West Hampstead, London

Location: Menelik Road NW2
Scope: Loft conversion, two-storey extension and full refurbishment
Architect: Luke Young @ Young and Co Architects
Role: Principal Contractor

The project involved the transformation of a large family home through a loft conversion, a two-storey extension and extensive internal reconfiguration. The objective was to significantly increase living space while improving circulation, natural light and the overall relationship between the existing house and the new additions.

Oaklex managed the full construction process, delivering a complex programme of works that required careful coordination between structural alterations, new external elements and bespoke internal works.

The scope included:

  • Structural works associated with the loft conversion and two-storey extension

  • Construction of a dormer with zinc cladding

  • Installation of external timber cladding to new elevations

  • Formation of a double-height hallway

  • Installation of a bespoke metal staircase

  • Full internal refurbishment and spatial reconfiguration

  • Coordination of trades and quality control throughout the build

Close collaboration with the architect was essential to ensure that the new interventions were seamlessly integrated with the existing structure and architectural intent.

The completed works have delivered a generous, light-filled family home with a strong architectural identity. The project demonstrates Oaklex’s capability in managing large-scale residential transformations, combining structural complexity with refined detailing to deliver a cohesive and high-quality result.
